Friends of the Forest

Dedicated to the preservation of the Anacortes Community Forest Lands through education, outreach & stewardship

Volunteer

Meet. Attend our monthly meetings at 7:00 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month. Meet at the Friends of the Forest office #32 on the 3rd floor of the Keystone Building on the corner of 7th and Commercial in downtown Anacortes. Everyone is welcome.

Serve. Any member is invited to serve on a committee. We currently have active committees for Education and Outreach, Newsletter and Membership, Political Action,  Finance, Fundraising, and Stewardship. Contact a Committee Chairperson for more information.

Lead. Are you ready to serve on the board of directors? Our nine board members are elected at large by the membership for two-year terms.

Party! Volunteer for the annual benefit event. We are always looking for folks to help with planning, publicity, decorating, and set up for the annual dance and auction that provides so much of our education program funding. Or, donate your art, merchandise or services for our silent auction.

Join Together. Each January, join other members at our annual meeting for an informative presentation, board elections, an update on Friends of the ACFL business, and socializing. Watch our News page for details.

Show Up. Attend monthly Forest Advisory Board meetings (www.cityofanacortes.org). Share your opinions and observations with this appointed body that helps to set ACFL policy for the City. Meetings are the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 at the Anacortes Senior Center.

Speak Up. Write or call your City Councilor (www.cityofanacortes.org) about ACFL issues. Make sure your elected representatives know that you support preservation and protection of the ACFL.

Your ideas are always welcome. If you'd like to get involved or have an idea for a Friends of the Forest activity, call or email a board member or the Education and Outreach Director or join us at a regular monthly meeting.
